  • Professional Software - Pre-installed on machines.
  • Technician Availability - Onsite Technician in most film colleges.
  • Network Connections: Connection to Avid Servers / Network Systems - Great for practicing for industry and future projects.
  • Technical Requirements - Avid Media Composers, Davinci Resolve, Premiere Pro and Final Cut Software the most popular.
  • Food and drinks will be available for breaks on onsite cafes and canteens.
  • Toilet facilities will be available in the building normally.


Cons

  • Possible cost to hire - if you are not an Editor, Film Student, Filmmaker working in industry.

Home Edit Suite

  • Workspace - You can Design how you space looks.
  • Opening Hours - You decide your work day schedule.
  • Food and Drinks - These will be available for breaks at home, local cafes and even a picnic.
  • Toilet Facilities - will be available in the building normally!.

Cons

  • Self Discipline needs to be very high as distractions can be around every corner as work and life commitments intertwine during edits.
  • Professional Software - May be limited dependent on your budget.
  • Distractions - Maybe more if you have family / friends at home
  • Technical Requirements - You are reliant on your own knowledge and forums, web, and calling friends to fix issues.

Film School Edit Suite

  • Cost & Fees - Normally included as part of your College Fees - Use as often as you can!
  • Professional Software - Pre-installed on machines.
  • Technician Availability - Onsite Technician in most film colleges.
  • Network Connections: Connection to Avid Servers / Network Systems - Great for practicing for industry and future projects.
  • Technical Requirements - Avid Media Composers, Davinci Resolve, Premiere Pro and Final Cut Software the most popular.
  • Food and drinks will be available for breaks on onsite cafes and canteens.
  • Toilet facilities will be available in the building normally.

Cons

  • Cost & Fees - Can be a reason you are unable to attend Film School / College!
  • Edit Suites Availability - This will be dependant on times the building / Edit Suite is open.
  • Opening Hours - These will be dependent on a third party.

Rented Edit Suite

  • Cost & Fees - These can be negotiated with the facility.
  • Additional Equipment can be hired in at an additional cost if needs be

Cons

  • Equipment - You may not get a chance to check if all equipment is in full working order before starting your edit.
  • Opening Hours. - This depends on the facilities opening hours (This could also be a pro).
